So you tell yourself it doesn’t matter. Other things are more important. You don’t have time anyway.
But you found this podcast because some part of you refuses to let that writing dream of yours die.

Welcome to The Adventurous Author podcast. I’m Bonnie Jean Schaefer, and I rescue writers stuck in the wild.
You know who you are. The secretly brilliant, undiscovered writer buried under doubts, paralyzed by fear, drowning in excuses. So you don’t act. Because you don’t have time. You don’t have the “right” credentials. You don’t have proof you’re good enough.
Nonsense! God didn’t plant that story in your heart so you could bury it. He gave it to you so you could steward it. Finish it. Release it into the world to do what only stories can do — come alive in someone’s imagination, spark change, and spread like wildfire from heart to heart to heart.
But first, you must believe your dream matters. You must believe YOU matter. You must believe God matters. And I’m here to help you do that.
I’m on a mission to Adventurize Life.
Adventurizing life means turning your normal life into a transformative adventure that leads you to become more like Christ while experiencing fulfillment, significance, and belonging — regardless of circumstances.
How? Simple. Start with WHO. Live your story. Win your race.
Start with WHO means you seek God first. You discover the character tapestry He wired into you. You clarify your burning desire and identify your people. Then you define your core story and set goals like you would for the hero of your fictional story. Not random goals. Character-aligned goals.
Live your story means you take action towards your goals within systems that fit your chaos. Start small with as little as three minutes a day. Build from there. The key is creating doable rhythms that turn routine into adventure and obliterate the doubts that have kept you stuck.
Win your race means you finish. Your current book. Your next book. Your life race. You become a faithful finisher who stands before God having completed what He called you to start.
So here’s how this podcast works. Every two months, we dive deep into one pillar of the foundation: Christ-anchored identity, personalized systems, storytelling skills. Then we cycle back to identity and go deeper. Because transformation is a spiral, not a straight line.
These episodes aren’t random tips. They all work together to rescue you from fears, doubts, and excuses that if unchecked keep you stuck.
When you apply the teaching? You learn to trust God, respect your strengths, and do the work your dreams require so that you write books that advance God’s Kingdom one imagination at a time.
